Whether you live or work here in Austin, here are 5 places and activities that you most definitely do not want to miss for that R&R:

  • Lady Bird Lake

Also called as the Town Lake, is a major recreational site for many locals and visitors alike. The Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail that lies around the lake is the heart of Austin. The boardwalk is pet friendly and the lake offers many recreational activities such as kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddle boarding so motorized vehicles are banned in the lake. If you follow the lake North you will run into a dam right after Red Bud street. The water above the dam is referred to as “lake Austin” and leads to another damn before Lake Travis. Here you will find ATX Party Boats, a Lake Austin boat rental service which can cater to group of 6-13 for day time Summer fun.

  • The University of Texas

Getting lost has never been this much fun as you wander around the university. Cultural blast hits you straight on as you walk into their Harry Ransom Center and get a glimpse of the first copy and photograph of the Gutenberg bible. And if museums bore you, you can always visit their gigantic stadium that is home to the Texas Longhorns and visit the University tower.

  • Texas State Capitol

This National Historic Landmark occupies 22 acres and features 17 monuments, historical buildings, and beautifully landscaped lawns along with the beauty and elegance of the capitol itself, which has more than nine hundred windows and nearly four hundred rooms. The capitol also features a rotunda with portraits of governors and presidents of Texas.
